Who can provide 7,600 tires for Mali?
One might think that it would be a pushover for a tire manufacturer or a wholesale dealer. 7600 truck tires in two different sizes delivered within three months. A Japanese government donation to Mali.
But it’s rare that tire manufacturers are geared to deliver to locations far off the beaten track. And 7600 tires are not just sitting in stock. Therefore, Bukkehave was given the assignment.
We tracked down the first 2000 tires through our supplier network. Thanks to our long-standing manufacturer co-operation, we succeeded in ordering the whole production in the two sizes for delivery in the next three months. The tires were not produced at one place – they had to be shipped from South Africa and Turkey, respectively.
After only 30 days from order receipt, we shipped the first 20 containers. First stop: Senegal. Then rail to Mali. All 7600 tires were delivered in Bamako within 14 days – on schedule so the trucks in Mali didn’t encounter any down time.
