The ultimate precisoin test
On a clear and frosty winter day in February we reply to a very interesting inquiry: 20 armored Landcruisers 4WD. With no less than 76 fixed specifications to be delivered by air to Baghdad by the end of October, including documentation for everything – from the authorization by our armoring partners to the certified quality of the windows.
The time is decisive
Normally it takes 6-8 weeks to armor one vehicle. We can’t give permission to proceed with the preparations until the order is placed. Or before we have found 20 basic vehicles to match the checklist. The first move is to make reservations for production at our armoring partner. May 30th: the order is a reality and the search begins. With 76 specifications in one hand and endless stock lists in the other. June 20th: the first vehicles are ready for armoring. Our spare parts division delivers beacon bridges, spotlights, bull bars and other extra equipment. During July the last of the 10 gasoline and 10 diesel vehicles are obtained from our strategic stocks.
Check. Check. Check…
We now enter the inspection phase. The first is in July, when half of the vehicles are almost ready. We adjust some details. Check. The second inspection is right before delivery. Two people over two days. Check. We are almost ready for the official inspection. Monday the 19th of September an independent third party inspection group is ready with their long checklists. Plus five representatives from the customer and five Bukkehave staff. Everything is inspected. Spare parts kits are counted. And everything is correct. Check.
Tuesday the vehicles are delivered by truck to the airport. Wednesday the airplane is loaded and Thursday it takes off with the 20 armored vehicles for destination Baghdad. The time is 06.00 – we are on schedule. And the same day at 13.30 the airplane lands in Baghdad. Check.
